Workstation setup
This is how you connect another workstation. The server must already be set up. Expect about five minutes.
What you need
- The file
Vehistra-Setup.exe - Administrator rights on the workstation PC
- The path to the company configuration, for example
\\FLEET-SRV01\Fleet\Vehistra-Firmenkonfiguration.fmcfg - User name and password of the employee
1. Install the program
Double click Vehistra-Setup.exe, confirm the Windows prompt and follow the
wizard.
If the wizard reports that the .NET Desktop Runtime 10 is missing: download
it from https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download/dotnet/10.0 under “Desktop
Runtime” for “Windows x64”, install it and start the setup again.
2. Load the company configuration
On first start the window “Serververbindung einrichten” (set up server connection) appears.
- Click Firmenkonfiguration laden (load company configuration).
- Choose the file
Vehistra-Firmenkonfiguration.fmcfgfrom the network share. - Server name, database name and the folder paths are filled in automatically.
The file deliberately contains no passwords. If SQL authentication is used, enter user name and password once by hand.
Alternative: enter by hand
| Field | Example |
| ---------------- | ------------------------------- |
| Server | FLEET-SRV01\SQLEXPRESS |
| Database | VehistraDB |
| Authentication | Windows authentication |
| Documents folder | \\FLEET-SRV01\Fleet\Dokumente |
| Update folder | \\FLEET-SRV01\Fleet\Updates |
3. Test the connection and save
Click Verbindung testen (test connection). It should report a successful connection. Then save.
If the test fails, Troubleshooting usually helps: in most cases the server name is incomplete, TCP/IP is disabled on the SQL Server, or the firewall is closed.
4. Sign in
The employee then signs in with their account – see First sign-in.
Where the settings live
The workstation configuration lives under:
C:\ProgramData\LSP Virtual Services\Vehistra
A SQL password stored there is encrypted with Windows DPAPI – never in plain text.
