Plate inventory

Vehistra keeps the whole plate inventory – including plates that are currently not assigned to any vehicle.

A plate is assigned to a vehicle for a period. On a change the previous assignment ends and a new one begins. That keeps it traceable which plate was on which vehicle and when.

Free plates stay visible and can be assigned again at any time.

Reservations

A plate can be reserved with a reservation number and expiry date. Vehistra points this out in time before the reservation lapses.

That is what reservations are for: holding a plate for a vehicle that is not in the fleet yet, without having to keep the date in your head.

Keys

Keys can be recorded and handed out per vehicle. It stays traceable who holds which key and since when – the same logic as for drivers and plates: periods instead of overwritten fields.

That sounds like a detail until a vehicle is due at the workshop and the spare key cannot be found.

Registration and deregistration

Registration and deregistration are kept separate from retirement. A deregistered vehicle stays in the fleet and can be registered again; both events appear with their date in the vehicle history.
